Thks for the review. I got Postmans book in the early 2000s and I was applying it to what was called cyberspace back then. His book led me to Marshall McLuhan and academic Todd Gitlin.

What pains me the most is that Christian youth conferences are out to lunch on this issue. They are still have workshops like...how to use Instagram to stay connected to your teens. These conferences still promote the cool older adult youth pastor archetype and they want to appear just as wired as the teens.

Will pick up the book. Thks.

Thanks! Maybe it’s time for a spin off conference for youth leaders on human flourishing w/o swiping & tapping?

Great review, Emily. Thank you for sharing. I was looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I'm always hesitant with editorial books. I think it's hard to bring together a consistent, unified voice when you are getting a different author with each chapter. But you've convinced me this is worth the read.

Thanks for the link! Amy Cuddy who studies body language has shown that when our heads are tilted down, we tend to secrete more cortisol, which increases stress on a chronic basis. The game is rigged - that's why it's better not to play at all.
